Garb Requirements

All players are required to wear a costume/phys reps (“garb”) that meets or–ideally–exceeds minimum requirements (“Base Layer”) as seen below. The intention of this policy is to maintain an immersive appearance appropriate to a fantasy setting at Tempest of Tridia events.

Garb is required during quests and when in public areas. How a player dresses while in a private camp is not regulated by these rules; however garb at all times is strongly encouraged.

Appropriate garb not only benefits the player, but enhances the experience of other players and improves the overall atmosphere of the event.

Exceeding minimum requirements will often contribute to bonus experience points you may receive during an event.
Failing to meet minimum requirements after your first three months of play will result in your character being treated as having no armor equipped (even if our traditional phys reps for armor have been called off due to weather). Continued ignoring of these requirements may result in
the loss of XP.

It is highly advised that all players maintain a “base layer” to wear apart from more elaborate costuming, so when NPCing for quests it is easier to wear an NPC tabard or be otherwise distinguished from your player character. Failure to wear appropriate garb when NPCing may result in removal from a quest and loss of NPC credit.

If you are in need of garb in order to meet these requirements, please ask staff at or between events; there are many resources available for you to acquire or loan garb in order to help build a better, more immersive game for all! Be sure to check out our Links to Garb Resources!

Minimum Requirements (“Base Layer”)
(Obviously modern clothing such as jeans, sweat-pants/pajama pants, basketball shorts, modern skirts, etc is not acceptable.)

  1. A tunic, tabard, shirt, dress, robe or vest with no prominent graphic designs or modern logos. Bare chest is acceptable if allowed by law and or camp/event rules. (Bare chests do not count for armor phys reps, unless phys reps have been called for heat)
  2. Non-obtrusive pants, kilts, skirts, leggings, or similar leg-ware (such as: Scrub pants, plain workout pants). Bare legs are acceptable.
  3. Non-obtrusive footwear (moccasins, earth-tone shoes, boots, closed toe sandals, etc.) is preferable, but not explicitly required.
  4. Additional accessories such as belts, pouches, and headwear are of course encouraged, but not required.

Certain obtrusive or modern items may be allowed on a case by case basis, typically for reasons of player health or safety.
